Second City Stars is the children’s ministry (4 months to 5 years) of Second City Church. From start to finish, we strive to make every child’s time with us a great experience by providing safe, age-appropriate environments where the Bible is taught in creative, relevant and fun ways.
Our mission verse in Second City Stars is Philippians 2:14-16, “Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.”
MISSION
To create an environment in which children will encounter God, be equipped with the Word and be engaged with the community around them.
ENCOUNTER
We desire to create a place where our children can encounter God through our Bible lessons, volunteers modeling positive and growing walks with God, and times of genuine worship.
EQUIP
Our goal in Second City Stars is not to replace the role of the parent in the discipleship process, but rather to equip the children with the Word of God. This is modeled through a rich worship experience, teaching them about prayer and the Holy Spirit, and above all making sure the Word is hidden deep in their hearts.
ENGAGE
Discipleship doesn’t end with our children. Our heart at Second City Stars is to let the children engage in the community around them through various outreach projects and service opportunities, all in the name of Jesus Christ.
SAFE
We want Second City Stars to be a safe place for our children. This includes physical safety, emotional safety, spiritual safety and sanitary conditions.
FUN
In all that we do with Second City Stars, we want to create not just a safe environment but a fun environment where our children look forward to coming each week!

The Bible Adventure 2 Year Curriculum
We’re excited to announce that the Children's Ministry has just begun using the Bible Adventure Curriculum! This is a two year curriculum designed for 2-4 year olds. We will be taking the kids through the whole Bible over the next 2 years! We will be skipping over some parts and returning back later to make sure we hit the nativity story during Christmas, resurrection at Easter, etc.
Making Little Disciples of Jesus At Church
During church time on Sunday's from 10am-11:30am we will be using play time, story time, props, and other fun ways to teach the stories in the Bible. Each main lesson is repeated and built on for 4-5 weeks and is called a 'unit'. The first 'unit' is called The First Sin and focuses on obeying God and asking for wisdom to do so. We will send home some printouts each week such as coloring sheets that help the kids remember God's Word and apply it.
Making Little Disciples of Jesus At Home
To aide you in making little disciples who are wise for salvation (2 Timothy 3:15) we encourage you to go to the Second City Church YouTube channel and find the playlist for "Second City Stars: Bible Adventure" where each lessons video will be uploaded. You can watch this with your child, color the sheets with them, and help them memorize and pray over the Bible Verse at home each week.
We also encourage you to make use of the "Bible App For Kids". It's a companion to the curriculum and interactively walks the kids through each unit.

If each parent serves one Sunday a month we will have more than enough to serve all the kids coming now and be prepared for the harvest to come!
