Why We Pray
At Second City Church, we take seriously the calling of Jesus to be "salt" and "light" of the Earth.
One way He commands us to do this is through prayer and intercession for our church, city & nation.
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” - Romans 12:12
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” -Colossians 4:2
“Pray without ceasing” -1 Thessalonians 5:17
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power...” - James 5:16
Opportunities to Pray Together
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 2:42

First Friday Fast & Prayer
Join the body of Christ every first Friday of the month for a day of fasting and prayer. In the evening, we will meet to pray over our city, nation and world! After a time of prayer we will break our fast.
2024 Prayer, Fasting, and Consecration Week: Set Apart : A Biblical View of Holiness
At Second City Church, we begin the year with a time of prayer and fasting.
We are excited to announce our 2024 global theme—Set Apart! We look forward to joining together in this time of prayer, consecration, and devotional study to grow in our understanding of holiness. Be transformed by God’s power and live to testify of his goodness as we begin the year with a week of prayer, fasting, and consecration focusing on holiness from the book of 1 Peter.
Dates: January 8–12, 2024
Theme: Set Apart : A Biblical View of Holiness
Goal: To have a more thoroughly biblical view of holiness that glorifies God, transforms our heart, and increases missional passion.
Evening Prayer Details:
Let's gather together to worship, pray, and encourage one another! We will have a prayer meeting every night of Consecration Week. Come once or every night.
Friday, we will break the fast together after prayer!Monday, Jan. 8th - Friday, Jan. 12th @ 6pm - 8pm
