Why We Pray

At Second City Church, we take seriously the calling of Jesus to be "salt" and "light" of the Earth.

One way He commands us to do this is through prayer and intercession for our church, city & nation.

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” - Romans 12:12

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” -Colossians 4:2

“Pray without ceasing” -1 Thessalonians 5:17

“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power...” - James 5:16

Opportunities to Pray Together

Join us for a time of prayer as we come together as a church community to seek God's heart and pray for our church, city, and nation.

We are excited to announce our 2025 global theme—The Cross!

Join us for prayer, consecration, and devotional study to deepen our understanding of the Cross of Christ. We aim to be transformed by God’s power and to live as witnesses of His goodness. We will start the year with a week of prayer, fasting, and consecration, focusing on Jesus' sayings on the Cross. We will reflect on themes that help us understand what the work of the Cross accomplishes for fallen humanity.

Theme: The Cross And What It Means for Fallen Humanity

Goal: The Cross is foundational to everything we do as disciples and ministers. If we want to remain faithful to the call God has given us as a global family of churches, we must continue to be Christ-centered.
